Music in the South Lecture: Jay Williams

   |   By  |  No comments

Guest curator Jay Williams presents a richly illustrated lecture on Music in the South, the Morris’s latest exhibition—a celebration of the many modes of musical expression that are unique to the American South. In it, he discusses works in the exhibition and the larger themes suggested by them. The region’s music—jazz, gospel, country, bluegrass, and rock and roll—is what the world has come to know as American music. Filled with images rich in history, drama, and good humor, Music in the South remains on view in the Morris Museum of Art’s Coggins Gallery through November 22, 2020.
