Georgia Watercolor Society 2025 National Exhibition
March 6 @ 10:00 am - June 26 @ 5:00 pm
Recent works by eighty of the leading watercolorists in America have been selected for this exhibition by renowned artist Ryan Fox, an award-winning signature member of the American Watercolor Society, whose work has been widely exhibited in the U.S., and the creator of a series of successful instructional videos. He will conduct a workshop on watercolor batik at the Arts & Heritage Center of North Augusta, South Carolina, March 19–21, and a demonstration at the Morris Museum of Art prior to the Awards Ceremony for the Georgia Watercolor Society (GWS) exhibition on March 22.
Founded in 1975, the GWS was organized to promote and advance the art of watercolor painting as a rich and vibrant medium in the state of Georgia. It also provides support and assistance for its members and others endeavoring in the field of watercolor painting.
The Georgia Watercolor Society holds two juried exhibitions every year—its member exhibition, open only to GWS members in good standing, and the national exhibition, open to any artist working in water media anywhere in the country. Rules and requirements are published in a prospectus for each exhibition.
The society’s quarterly newsletter informs members of shows and activities in Georgia and elsewhere and provides helpful suggestions, tips on techniques, and other information to improve artists’ creative abilities. The GWS website (georgiawatercolorsociety.com) provides lists of exhibition winners, links to other art websites, and a variety of valuable information for all water media artists. GWS sponsors workshops and demonstrations around the state throughout the year.
The Georgia Watercolor Society, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) educational and eleemosynary organization, celebrates the joy of watercolor painting through its educational efforts—demonstrations, workshops, and outreach programs—as well as its juried competitions. The 46th National Juried Exhibition is its first collaboration with the Morris Museum of Art and the first of its juried exhibitions to appear in Augusta.
