Part I: Artist David Mascaro will speak and demonstrate the stages of oil painting, relating his talk to the Morris collection.

Explore the shared lives of Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald through a performance and discussion by ASU professor Ted Atkinson and his students in the galleries.

Art at Lunch, in conjunction with a docent meeting immediately following the presentation. Join us as Bessie Nickens's daughter Barbara Cohens and sociologist Dr. Juanita Howard talk about the career and work by Ms. Nickens, as a self-taught artist whose work is in the museum's permanent collection and is included in the exhibition Our Neighbors Collect: African American Art. Buffet lunch by Donna Jannik Event Planning and Catering. $10 charge for lunch or bring your own.

Curator Jay Williams will speak about An Unbroken Circle: Selections from the Julia J. Norrell Collection, in preparation for the exhibition opening on November 16, 2006. The acquisition of more than 900 artworks will include work by Eldredge Bagley, William Tolliver, Deborah Luster, Walker Evans, Jonathan Green, Eudora Welty, and others.

Smithsonian intern Jacquetta Ransom will give a PowerPoint presentation and discuss her experience during Summer 2006 as an intern for the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The focus will be intergenerational learning in the art museum.
