The first lecture features noted mixed-media artist Willie Cole, who transforms ordinary objects such as high-heeled shoes, hair dryers, and irons into intricate assemblages and installations that explore our modern-day consumer culture.

Field Trip Spotlight

Deep Sea: The Art of William Golding
Available now until February 28, 2010
This three-part program focuses on the work of African American folk artist William Golding. Golding’s intricately detailed and fanciful drawings of ships and exotic seaports serve as the basis of a lighthearted historical and aesthetic discussion. The tour includes a docent-led gallery talk, art activity, and either a film screening or book reading and discussion (depending on the group’s age). The entire program lasts approximately 90 minutes and costs $4.00 per student. Book your group today by e-mailing Kristen Knispel.
