Public Opening: Stories to Tell, Memories to Keep: Folk Art in the South.
Wine and cheese reception and museum open house. 6:30 p.m., lecture. Tour the new folk art exhibition, meet the speaker, enjoy a glass of wine, or shop for new items in the store during a museum open house. Afterwards, Steve Slotin, owner of Slotin Folk Art, discusses collecting folk art. FREE.

Artrageous! Family Sunday: Folktales and
Musical Adventures for Kids with Mr. Bob
Mr. Bob, the Singing Storyteller, presents a fun mix of folktales and songs. Afterwards, create a piece of folk art. FREE.

The Social Canvas.
A variety of local bands play inside and outside the Morris Museum while Augusta artists are inspired by their music. Join the art-making at different creativity stations or just sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds. FREE.

June 15–19, 9:00 a.m. –12:30 p.m.
Paper and Print Making
Make your own handmade paper, then create a number of prints on using different methods, including linoleum block, callograph, and monotypes.

The Morris Museum and Augusta Preparatory Day School are partnering to offer this fun art experience at Prep’s Martinez campus. Taught by artist and certified art educator Wilma Becker, this week-long class will provide participants the opportunity to learn a variety of techniques and create several finished pieces inspired by works from the museum’s permanent collection. This program will culminate in a student exhibition at the Morris Museum. Appropriate for ages 12 and older.

Music at the Morris: Paul Roberts and the Fresh Music All-Star Jazz Quintet. Pianist Paul Roberts leads his quintet featuring vocalist Sheri Smith performing jazz and popular standards from many eras. FREE

Sculpture Techniques
Learn a variety of subtractive and additive sculpture techniques, including plaster casting and carving, assemblage, and wire forms.

Day Trip to the C.L. Morehead Estate.
Tour Lord Love Us: Works by R. A. Miller from the Mullis Collection at the Lyndon House Arts Center, an exhibition organized by the Georgia Museum of Art, and travel to the 14,000 square foot estate of C.L. Morehead to view his private art collection, which includes over 700 paintings by Lamar Dodd, a close friend of the collector, as well as a vast assemblage of artistic treasures. Affiliate group members and active docents, $65.00; museum members, $75.00; nonmembers $90.00.
