Noon.
Films on Friday: The Lady Eve (1941). View this comedic masterpiece starring Henry Fonda and Barbara Stanwyck, which was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress. Afterwards, museum director Kevin Grogan leads a discussion. FREE.

Sunday, November 6, noon–5:00 p.m.  Library Book Sale.  The Center for the Study of Southern Art offers a great weekend of bargains on books, CDs, videos, and more.

Artrageous! Family Sunday: Down Home Day! Join in the fun as we celebrate Southern traditions and folklife with a musical performance by Eryn Eubanks and the Family Fold, traditional basket weaving and pottery demonstrations, and old-time games and art projects. FREE.

Thursday, November 10 lectures performances
10:00–11:00 a.m., or 11:15 a.m.–12:15 p.m. Toddler Time: Banjo Granny.
Listen to Sarah Martin Busse and Jacqueline Briggs Martin’s book Banjo Granny, and Banjo Granny, and learn about painter Art Rosenbaum and his work. Afterwards, make a banjo-inspired collage. Museum family members and parents, free; nonmembers, $4 per participant. Registration required.

6:00 p.m.
Terra Cognita: Alec Soth. Alec Soth, renowned photographer, Magnum Photos member, and exhibiting artist in the 2004 Whitney Biennial, discusses his work. Reception follows. FREE.

Saturday, November 12, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Symposium: Augusta and the Civil War in 1861. Several Augusta cultural organizations join together to present a two-day symposium focusing on Augusta’s role in the Civil War. Call for details. Fees apply; registration required. See More>

2:00 p.m.. Music at the Morris: Bailey Jerusalem Sounds. This New Orleans style brass band presents a selection of uplifting gospel tunes. FREE.

Tuesday, November 15 special events lectures
Group 1: 5:00 p.m., Group 2: 5:45 p.m. Private Tour of Preservation of Place: The Art of Edward Rice, Led by Edward Rice. Tour the Edward Rice exhibition with the artist himself. Following the tour, discuss the stunning exhibition at a wine and cheese reception. RSVP to 706-828-3803. Members only, FREE.

6:00 p.m. Southern Circuit Film Series: Welcome to Shelbyville. After viewing the movie, enjoy a question-and-answer session with director and producer Kim Snyder. Members, free; nonmembers, $3.00.

Friday, November 18 lectures
Noon.
Art at Lunch: A Collection of Floral Ideas for the Holidays. Learn how to decorate your home for the holidays using backyard greenery, fruits, and flowers with floral designer, master gardener, and writer Mary Louise Hagler. One lucky member of the audience will take home a “stuffed pumpkin” centerpiece created during the lecture. Members, $10; nonmembers, $14. Lunch by NY Butcher Shoppe.  Southern Soul & Song: Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out, with Special Guest Nu-Blu. The pride of Cumming, Georgia, Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out have released eleven albums and two greatest-hits collections and have won many honors including the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Vocal Group of the Year.
