Second Annual Print Fair

The Morris Museum of Art presents its Second Annual Print Fair on Saturday, December 8, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the museum’s first floor auditorium. Leading regional art dealers and ateliers will have a wide variety of original historical and contemporary prints—etchings, lithographs, and monoprints—on sale for one day only.

“The success of last year’s print fair,” said Lauren Powell, membership services coordinator at the Morris Museum of Art “has led us to expand the number of artists and galleries represented. We have also added public programming throughout the day. These events are courtesy of the museum’s affiliate groups—The Morris 100, Friends of African American Art, Young at Art, and Friends of the Library.”

The morning begins with a Sneak Peek from 10:00–11:00 a.m. where members of the museum’s four affiliate groups are invited to preview the Print Fair and Young Artist Showcase. As an added bonus, they will receive a 10 percent discount on any purchases made during the preview hour.

At 11:00 a.m., the museum’s Friends of the Library host a lecture by renowned print collector Wes Cochran, who will talk about the pleasures and rewards of collecting prints. He will give tips to beginning collectors on starting or expanding a print collection. Admission is free for affiliate group members and $3 for nonmembers.

In addition to the day-long Print Fair, Young at Art (YAA) invites Print Fair attendees to the museum’s first-ever Young Artist’s Showcase, which provides the art-interested public with an opportunity to see and purchase works of art from some of Augusta’s most interesting up-and-coming artists. Prices for their work will fit any budget, for the beginning art buyer, as well as the discerning experienced collector.
