Homeschool Group Days

The museum now offers "group days" for homeschoolers on selected Tuesdays. This program is designed for homeschoolers to explore a special topic or art concept through tours and hands-on art activities. Reservations are required. Homeschool groups may schedule other days to visit by making arrangements with Sarah Alexander at 706-828-3808 or e-mail sarah.alexander@themorris.org.

Storytelling in Art
September 2, 2008

Learn what life was like on the American plantation as portrayed in the artworks in the exhibition Landscape of Slavery. Afterwards, create an artwork that tells a story based on themes suggested by the exhibition.

Animal Safari
November 4, 2008

Go on an animal safari in our permanent collection and in the special exhibition It's a Dog's Life. See how artists depict animals in art and create a portrait based on a photo of your favorite animal. Students are encouraged to bring pet portraits from home.

Portrait Study
March 10, 2009

View portraits in the permanent collection gallery and in the exhibition Nashville Portraits. Learn how artists compose a portrait and what clothing or other items in the portrait say about a person. Tell a story about yourself by creating a self-portrait in your own style.

Impressionism in the South
April 14, 2009

Discover how artists who were from the South or visited the South were influenced by French impressionists. Learn how these artists used light and color to create a painting. Afterwards, create of work of art in the style of the impressionists.
